Yes, there are no objections to unmarried couples staying in hostels as long as both show their IDs and are not local to the city.
If you have a confirmed reservation, you can reach out to booking@shalombackpackers.com to get you booking amended. Make sure to clearly mention your reservation number and the dates for amendment.

Hostel Services
All of our private single, twin and double rooms come with towels. For dorms you can rent or buy a towel from reception for a small charge.
No, we are not a pet friendly hostel
Yes you can, but we recommend you let the hostel reception team know if you're expecting a delivery. We don't accept responsibility for lost or damaged packages.
Yes, we supply all your bedding.
We have smoking zones in each hostel, but all dorm rooms are strictly non-smoking.
Friends and family who live in the city or are staying at other hostels are welcome in the social areas. However, outside guests are not allowed in rooms.
Yes, there are laundry facilities at all of our hostels. Prices vary from INR 15 to INR 30 per piece for a wash and dry.
Events are at the heart of our ethos. We make sure we have a range of events organised in all our hostels. Contact the hostel directly to know more.
Hostel has also ventured into the activity space with its new brand Experiences offering exclusive curated experiences to be the icing on the cake for your travels.
The entire property, including the rooms, are cleaned multiple times by our staff on daily basis.
We have free lockers in all of our rooms. You can bring your own padlock.
We also have luggage areas in our hostels, where you can store your luggage after check-out.

We have Café Shalom across hostels serving lunch & dinner.
Friends who live in the city or are staying at other hostels are welcome in the cafe.
You can bring food from outside into the hostel, but we do have a cafe/restaurant in most of our hostels so you're never left hungry.

Backpackers' hostels provide affordable, secure and hygienic accommodations to travelers. Usually, a backpacker's hostel consists of dorms for sleeping, secure lockers for storing luggage, clean bathrooms and a community kitchen facility. Rooms can be mixed or single-sex, although private rooms may also be available.

Absolutely, At Shalom we give immense attention on the security of our guests and their belongings. All the hostels are under CCTV surveillance 24x7, and every employee of Shalom has got his/her background checked and certified.
Yes, all the hostels have an in-house cafe/restaurant where you can order lip-smacking food at a reasonable cost.
Also, we can always help you order food from outside as well.
Yes, only if you have a booking with us. We will keep your luggage in our cloak room till you come back to pick it up.
If you plan to keep the luggage for a long duration or before/after your stay, extra charges might be applicable.
While staying with us in a dorm, lockers for your valuables are available in each dorm room, however the hostel will not be held responsible for any lost/stolen/damaged luggage.
Absolutely! Shalom has served more than 3000 solo female travellers till date and hasn't had any untoward incident in our 3+ years of operations. We have taken all safety precautions to ensure that you have a safe, fun-filled stay with like minded people. If you still aren't convinced, you can book a private room or a female-only dorm!
Depending on the location, you can rent cycles at very reasonable price. Upon your arrival, the property manager would be more than happy in assisting you with the same.
No, keeping in mind the comfort of others in dorm, our hostel policies do not allow more than one person on a single occupancy dorm bed.
I am reaching late at night, would there be someone to check me in?
Although there would be someone to check you in across all the hostels but we strongly recommend that you drop an email to the property beforehand if you are coming in between 10 pm-7 am. Cheers!

To reach the property, you can take an auto-rickshaw or a taxi from Railway Station, Airport, or Bus Stand. You can tell them you need to go to ' Anandham'.

Taxi- INR 900 in Normal Days, 1000-1200 Rupees in Month of May and June .
Bus - INR 40 from Airport to Rishikesh Bus stand and from rishikesh bus stand to hostel sharing Auto(Tuk-Tuk) charge INR 20 and Private Auto (Tuk-Tuk) charge INR 200
Rishikesh Bus station to Shalom distance is 4.5 KM.
Haridwar Train And Bus Station
Taxi - INR 900 in Normal Days, INR 1000 in Month of May and June.
Bus - INR 45 to Rishikesh Bus Stand.

Auto (Tuk-Tuk) is the only one option. Private Auto (tuk tuk) charges is INR 300 & sharing one is INR 40.

We do not have parking space for four wheelers, two wheelers can be parked outside the hostel. The nearest parking for four wheelers is 100 metres away from the property.

Reaching the Hostel
From Mcleodganj Bus Stand:

Perfect!
We recommend you to walk till the hostel which is just situated at 3.2 kilometers from the main bus stand. It is even good for your health with added chances to experience city life and interact with locals.
In case you don’t want to exert yourself much, then get an auto or a taxi to reach the end of upper dharamkot road. You have to get down at the end of this long winding road which itself is an amazing experience to witness some of the beautiful surroundings. After getting down, look for the signboard and get down to a 300m walk to the hostel.
(The expected auto charge is 130 rs and a taxi will cost you around 200 rs. Bargaining is your skill to try.)
From Gaggal Airport:
The nearest airport is Gaggal airport which is well connected to our hostel. In case you are coming from the airport, it’s about 20 kilometers. The only way is to hire a cab till upper Dharamkot which will drop you at the same spot as earlier (end of the road, upper Dharamkot).
After getting down, look for the signboard and get down to a 300m walk to the hostel.
Whoa! Road trips are fun!
Use technology and follow maps to reach till the end of upper dharamkot road. Park your car at the end of this road and get down to take a 300m walk till the hostel.
In case you have a bike then you can get into the narrow hilly road leading to the hostel.
