At Shalom Backpackers Hostel, we believe that travel is not just about reaching destinations; it’s about creating memories, embracing experiences, and building connections. Since our journey began in October 2017, we’ve been on a mission to redefine budget travel by providing affordable stays in the most stunning locations, ensuring every traveler feels at home while exploring the world.

Our Journey

 

  • October 2017: Shalom Backpackers was born with our first hostel, laying the foundation for a brand that prioritizes comfort, affordability, and community.

  • 2018: We expanded to the serene town of McLeodganj, launching our second hostel and welcoming a growing family of explorers.

 

  • 2019: A milestone year! We hosted over 10,000 travelers and curated more than 500 unique experiences, from treks to cultural events, making travel truly unforgettable.

 

  • 2020: We ventured into Rajasthan’s City of Lakes, Udaipur, opening our first hostel in the state, known for its royal charm and breathtaking landscapes.

 

  • 2021: Our Rishikesh hostel grew to 25 rooms and 65 beds, hosting over 5,000 travelers. We introduced in-house cafés and dedicated workcation spaces across all locations, blending work and travel seamlessly.

 

  • 2022: Udaipur saw a major expansion with 29 rooms, making it Shalom’s largest hostel. We also added a new hostel in Goa, the land of beaches and vibrant nightlife.

 

  • 2023: We embraced the Queen of Hills, Mussoorie, with another stunning hostel in Uttarakhand. Our family grew to 10,000 online reviews and a thriving Instagram community of 6,000 followers.

 

  • 2024: Expanding further in Rajasthan, we launched a new hostel in Jaipur, adding to our portfolio of vibrant destinations.

 

  • 2025: Today, Shalom Backpackers stands strong with a presence in six prime locations – Rishikesh, McLeodganj, Udaipur, Goa, Mussoorie, and Jaipur. I had an amazing 5 day stay at this property in Dharamkot. The place is incredibly peaceful, surrounded by beautiful mountains that make you feel close to nature. The view from the balcony is stunning. I could sit there for hours just soaking it all in. The rooftop kitchen was a highlight for me. The ambience is so chill, and the view from up there is nothing short of magical. It’s also not too crowded, which adds to the peaceful vibe. If you're into a bit of adventure, Bhagsu waterfall is just a short trek away. Overall, a perfect spot to relax and enjoy the beauty of Himachal. Highly recommended!

Amazing experience! The vibe at Shalom Backpackers is unmatched. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and the common areas had a very chilled-out ambiance. Met some amazing fellow travelers here. The staff was super friendly and always ready to help. Plus, the location is perfect—close to the beach and local cafes. Definitely coming back

I booked private superior room for 7500 (two nights). The property was okay. The location is on mall road so it is convenient and near to picture palace. But there is NO VIEW from rooms so please if you are looking for a property with view do not book this. I have added photos of view from my room “superior room”. Room size is also small. Only good point about the property was its terrace. Food taste is also okay 3/5.

Its a really nice hostel with great views and fun vibe + amazing location in the city centre too. Loved all the cool artwork in the cafe, many games and the rooms. Special mention to Vishal who was the best host as he helped me a lot so that I felt comfortable throughout the stay. Made my stay a memorable one!

Amazing rooftop with a nice view over the city and had a nice live music, which made the place so lively as all the guests were singing it was really a nice experience. Plus the hostel is located in a perfect spot in old town, surrounded by shoes, restaurants and accessible to visit all the places by walk. Would definitely recommend for a long/short stay!
